We are thrilled and thankful for the TWELVE (!!!) Grammy Nominations that Soundmirror recordings have earned this year!
Congratulations to our three incredible producers for their individual nominations in Producer of the Year, Classical: Blanton Alspaugh, Dirk Sobotka, and our honorary Soundmirror producer and dear friend, Elizabeth Ostrow! This is both Liz and Dirk’s first nomination in the Producer category. We are so happy for you three!
In the Best Engineered Album, Classical category, we have 2 nominations. One for Mark Donahue and Dirk Sobotka for their work on Bates: “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” (The Santa Fe Opera) and another nomination for Mark on the Beethoven: Symphony No. 3; Strauss: Horn Concerto album (Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra). Well done, guys!
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s Beethoven/Strauss album also earned a nomination in Best Orchestral Performance. The PSO won in this category last year as well as Best Engineered Album, Classical – we have our fingers crossed!
For Best Opera Recording, we have Bates: “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” which is The Santa Fe Opera’s second Grammy nomination with Soundmirror in this category.
Next up, we have a nomination in Best Choral Performance for the stunning Chesnokov: “Teach Me Thy Statutes” recording with the PaTRAM Institute Male Choir. This is the PaTRAM Institutes first nomination – congrats!
Craig Morris’ impressive recording of Glass: “Three Pieces in the Shape of a Square” was nominated in Best Classical Instrumental Solo. This was an interesting recording to make so check it out when you can!
In the Best Classical Compendium category, the Toronto Symphony’s Vaughan Williams album was nominated. It’s a gorgeous sounding record and we’re proud to be the Toronto Symphony’s recording partner.
Lastly, we’re delighted for the two Best Classical Contemporary Composition nominations for the wonderful composers and librettists that we worked with on “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” (Mason Bates and Mark Campbell) and “Great Scott” (Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally).
